International Winter School 2019 in Zaporizhzhia – First Event of the DAAD ViMaCs Project

From 2nd till 6th of December, 2019, the International Winter School on Data Analysis was held at the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University at the Department of Software within the framework of the DAAD project “Virtual Master Cooperation on Data Science” (ViMaCs) with the partial support of the academic mobility of Erasmus teachers + European Union.

In addition to the teachers and students of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic University, representatives of universities of Germany (Daniel Fruhner, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts), Belgium (Dr. Lynn Houthuys, W. Lutin, Thomas More University of Applied Science), Ukraine (Ph.D., Prof. Olena Varenych, Professor of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture and Ph.D. Oleksandr Osolinskyi, Associate Professor of the Ternopil National University of Economics) were involved in the organization and teaching activities of the Winter School 2019. Moreover, the industrial partners of the Department of Software M. Khokhlov (Datax), E. Spasky and R. Kotov (WeMyIT) gave lectures on technological solutions and developments in the field of data processing and analysis.

During the winter school, numerous students and teachers of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic University were able to listen to lectures by foreign and Ukrainian teachers, take part in practical classes, establish personal contacts with partners from other universities, and expand their own knowledge of foreign culture. 

The International Winter School 2019 is the first school in the series of the Pilot teaching events that are to be organised within the DAAD ViMaCs project together with EuroPIM Consortium.

The DAAD ViMaCs project is aimed to create the necessary conditions for the Ukrainian partners for digital and virtual teaching and learning infrastructure in the area of data science, which is very important for digital transformation. The project contributes to establishing the model of the virtual cross-border Master School as a cooperation and internationalization instrument in Ukraine. The core of the project is the development and implementation of a digital teaching and learning offer in the field of the versatile and highly up-to-date “Data Science” by developing an innovative and inherently digitized structure of a Master School.
